New Bat Standards

Updated Tuesday March 13, 2018 by Sean O'Bannon.

As of January 1, 2018, Little League International is introducing new bat requirements called USA Baseball Bat Standard, which will require players to use a new bat for the upcoming season.  All bats that were in use in the 2017 season without this stamp will no longer will be allowed for play in Little League.

With the holiday season fast approaching, we wanted to make sure that everyone has this information as bats are a very popular holiday gift.  You should find that most new bats available for purchase will meet this standard, but be sure to look out for it.

Little League has provided some resources on their web site to help answer questions as noted below.

Please understand that this is a requirement of Little League International that must be adhered to by HWLL.  The insurance that covers HWLL is regulated by Little League International and there can be no exceptions to this rule.  No bats without the USA Baseball Bat Standard stamp will be allowed in the dugouts and to be used in HWLL beginning in 2018.  Softball is unaffected, as that program is not under Little League International.  This only affects baseball for ALL divisions.

Thank you for your cooperation.
